Danish
Danish is a sweet pastry which has its origins from Denmark and has become popular throughout the world. A Danish is made from a rich laminated dough which usually consists of flour, eggs, milk, yeast and large amounts of butter. The laminated dough is made by rolling thin layers and coating them in butter and then repeating the layers several times. This repeated layering produces a light, flaky, buttery pastry. The Danish can be made in various shapes including circles, spirals or figure-eights. The Danish is then usually topped with cheese, custard, icing or chocolate.
